Ingredients

  • 8 pieces slider buns brioche or Hawaiian rolls recommended
  • 1/2 cup honey mustard homemade or store-bought
  • 1 lb sliced ham honey-glazed or smoked preferred
  • 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese optional, for melting
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted, for brushing

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Small saucepan
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowls

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the buns horizontally into top and bottom halves without separating the layers completely.
  2. Lay the bottom halves of the buns on a baking sheet, cut side up. Spread a thin, even layer of honey mustard on the cut side of each bun, covering the surface gently.
  3. Arrange slices of ham evenly over the mustard-covered buns, layering about 3-4 slices per slider to ensure a generous filling.
  4. If using cheese, place a slice of cheddar or Swiss on top of the ham slices. This adds a creamy, savory layer that melts beautifully during baking.
  5. Cover the assembled fillings with the top halves of the buns, gently pressing down to compact the sliders slightly. Brush the tops with melted butter for a shiny, flavorful crust.
  6. Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the buns are golden and fragrant, and the cheese (if added) is bubbly and melted.
  7. Remove the sliders from the oven and let them rest for 2 minutes to allow the juices and flavors to settle.
  8. Slice the sliders into individual portions using a sharp serrated knife. Serve warm, garnished with pickles or extra mustard if desired, and enjoy the comforting blend of flavors and textures.
